In her speech, Ivone Cardoso drew attention to the challenges that continue to affect the island of Brava, highlighting structural issues that hinder the development and quality of life of the population.

In response, Maria Antónia Alves stated that she had followed her parliamentary colleague's entire intervention with serenity and attention, acknowledging that the problems listed have been known for a long time, but arguing that the analysis of the island's situation must also take into account the responsibilities of previous governments.

The PAICV MP recalled the difficulties faced by the population of Brava in previous years, particularly in the area of maritime transport.

According to the parliamentarian, in 2016 passengers had breakfast in Brava, lunch in Praia, and dinner at their homes on Brava Island.

Maria Antónia Alves also mentioned the problems related to the water supply, recalling occasions when the population had to resort to bottles and other means to obtain water.

According to the MP, these examples demonstrate that many of the challenges highlighted today are not recent and that Brava continues to face structural problems whose resolution requires concrete answers.

One of the central points of Maria Antónia Alves's response was the need to evaluate the work carried out during the ten years that the MpD was in government.

The parliamentarian questioned what had actually been done to solve the island's problems during that period, arguing that holding the current government accountable should be accompanied by an analysis of the performance of those who previously had the responsibility of governing the country.

The intervention thus introduced a political dimension to the debate on the problems of Brava, contrasting the concerns raised by Ivone Cardoso with an assessment of the previous government.

Despite political differences, both interventions highlight the persistent challenges affecting the population of Brava, particularly in transportation, water supply, and other areas essential to the island's development.

Maria Antónia Alves's response focused on remembering the difficulties experienced in the past and on taking political responsibility for the results achieved over the years.

The parliamentary debate thus places Brava once again at the center of the discussion about governmental responsibilities and the need to find lasting solutions to the problems that continue to affect the lives of the people of Brava.
